Gorman Nature Center Engagement Session – Heather & Sam

There’s a softness to the way Sam and Heather love each other—quiet, steady, and full of thoughtfulness. The kind of love that’s not about grand gestures but about the small, gentle moments that speak volumes. Like when Sam knelt down to help Heather slip her heals on and off in between walking from location to location. Their love comes through in the way he watched her as she walked ahead of him on the trail, completely in awe, like he couldn’t believe he gets to marry her. And in the way she looked back at him with soft eyes and the kind of smile that says home isn’t a place, it’s you.

Their session at Gorman Nature Center was so romantic and calm. It’s clear their lives are full right now, but somehow, together, they feel un-rushed and rooted. There’s something beautiful about the way they slow down with each other. Every touch felt intentional and every glance was like a quiet reminder of the life they’re building.

One of my favorite moments came when I complimented Sam’s watch. He and Heather shared that it was a gift from her—a symbol of their engagement, his version of a ring. It was so simple, but so meaningful. A quiet promise, wrapped around his wrist, and carried with him every day. They’ll be married next May at a sweet backyard wedding. (On the same date as *my own* anniversary, which makes it feel all the more personal and special to be part of this season with them). I can already tell their wedding day will be full of love, intentionality, and all the people who’ve cheered them on and I’m truly honored to be a witness to it.

Heather & Sam,

Thank you for inviting me into this chapter of your story. The next time we’re together, you’ll be saying your vows and beginning your forever. But even now, I hope you these images remind you, you’re already living the kind of love that lasts. These moments—helping each other, laughing softly, walking hand in hand. This is the beginning of everything beautiful that’s to come in your marriage.
