I feel like I blinked and the these girls grew up.
I’ve had the Holt family in front of my camera a few times now. Years ago we did family portraits at this exact same spot, and coming back again felt a little crazy. Not because the location had changed, because it truly hadn’t. It was because the girls had. They are older, they are growing into themselves, and somehow we are at the point where Sara is starting to talk about her college search.
How did that happen?!
I think that is one of the coolest parts of getting these guys in front of my camera several times over the years. I have had a front row seat to watching these girls grow up. Seeing Abby and Sara’s relationship change since the last time I saw them absolutely melted my heart. I remember them bickering and teasing each other at our last session, which honestly just reminded me so much of my sister and me growing up. But this time it was so clear that they are becoming friends, too. There is something really sweet about watching sisters start to shift from just being the person you grew up with and occasionally drove crazy, to being someone you genuinely want to spend time with.
And I think that is why I love getting to photograph this family over and over again. I don’t just get to see the girls get taller or look a little older in front of my camera. I get to see their relationships change, too.
The Holt family,
I am so glad I get to keep taking these pictures for you. It is pretty special to be able to look back at the little girls I photographed years ago and see them growing into each other’s cheerleaders and friends. Your family is so special to me, and I’m so grateful I’ve had a front row seat to cheering you on through these years of the girls growing up.
I hope these images forever remind you of this season. Of having both girls under one roof, of watching them grow up together, and of the friendship they are building that I hope they carry with them for the rest of their lives.
