Some couples spend their engagement planning a wedding. Lydia and Zavier are spending theirs preparing for a marriage.

There is something incredibly refreshing about people who aren’t in a hurry. Not because they don’t have exciting things ahead of them. They do. In fact, by the time you read this, Lydia and Zavier will probably already be packing boxes to move in together. Their wedding is planned. The venue is booked. They walked the very grounds where they’ll become husband and wife next year. Every big decision has already been made.

So instead of spending the next year chasing checklists, they get to do something that feels almost rare. They get to simply be engaged.

After spending an evening with these two, I don’t think that’s an accident. They have this quiet confidence about them. They’re steady. Comfortable. The kind of couple that makes you slow down without even realizing it. Walking around the place where they’ll promise forever next year didn’t feel emotional because of the venue itself. It felt emotional because of them. It honestly felt like grabbing coffee with old friends, talking about life, the move happening this week, and all the ordinary moments that will soon become the beginning of their marriage.

And maybe that’s my favorite part of their story. Before the wedding day. Before the celebration. Before all of the people they love gather in one place. They’re already building a life together.
